The story of Of Sorrow and Surrender began in 2011, originally conceived as an instrumental concept album titled Life…Unraveled under the name Arterial Winter.
Exploring the space between loss and the bittersweet dance with mortality, this album dives deep into the human experience of confronting death, the inevitability of parting, and the strength to persevere.
Dedicated to those we have all lost, Of Sorrow and Surrender is also a personal tribute to an old friend and bandmate, Chad (“Carnage,” as he preferred). Chad tragically passed away in January 2019. Despite past drama and turmoil within and beyond the band, we thankfully mended our fences in 2014. Chad was a monumental part of my musical journey, starting with Golgotha in 2004, and his spirit will always be woven into the fabric of my music.
